The good friends Ansgar Fog and E. Mørup founded the company Fog & Mørup in 1904. After having bought a bunch of small lighting companies Fog & Morup success became a reality in the early 1960’s. They had hired Johannes Hammerborg as head of design in 1957 and his modern design made F&M famous in Denmark and the rest of the world.
Johannes Hammerborg changed his name to Jo Hammerborg to accommodate the foreign market. He designed some of the most characteristic lamps for F&M and his name is comparable to good quality.
Jo Hammerborg’s own lighting designs for Fog & Mørup won numerous prizes, amongst them a CICi first prize in 1965 for the Nova and four iF Product Design Awards in 1969 for the Classic, Tunika, Saturn and Diskos.
F&M was bought by another big danish lighting company, LYFA , in 1978. Jo Hammerborg retired in 1980 and this was also the last year where F&M produced lamps.
Other significant designers for F&M were Erik Balslev, Hans Due, Bonderup og Thorup, Sidse Verner, Laif Alring, Kay Franck.
